As a cat owner I regularly check on cat stories and videos on You Tube, Facebook and Instagram hoping that I can learn more about cat care and to entertain myself as well. Months ago, I chanced upon a cat vlog about three cats and their everyday life adventures. They are named Mauiboy, Makiboy and Milkyboy and owned by a foreigner who rescued them from different situations.
Have you heard about The Hungry Syrian Wanderer?
WHO IS THE HUNGRY SYRIAN WANDERER?
One day, someone mentioned about The Hungry Syrian Wanderer and how his vlogs on You Tube and Facebook are garnering millions of views and positive comments.
And so I watched his vlogs, one after another.
I got addicted watching The Hungry Syrian Wanderer, who in his vlogs features different places in the country and cheerfully helps and assists people he meets.
Basel Manadil, a 26 year old Syrian national, braved his luck in the Philippines eight years ago after he and his family went through hell and back because of the war in Syria.
In one of his vlogs, Basel mentioned that he and his family– Mom, brother and sister, had to be separated and live in different countries because they already lost everything!
He narrated that they used to live a lavish life in Syria but unfortunately the war brought them to different places. But Basel was strong enough to pick up the pieces and start over again. A family friend suggested that he try his luck and finish school in the Philippines.
In a foreign country, Basel managed to go back to school and finish college. He graduated at the University of Perpetual Help, Las Pinas City, Metro Manila with a degree in Computer Engineering.
HUNGRY SYRIAN VLOGS
I’m now one of the 3.77 million subscribers in You Tube of The Hungry Syrian Wanderer. Why should you subscribe to his vlogs? I personally like watching The Hungry Syrian Wanderer as it’s like traveling to different places in the country. He also strongly advocates love and kindness for humanity and animals.
And little did I know that the cat vlogs I love watching (DaBoys Puspins) are also done by him to showcase his three precious cats and their antics!
How did he become a vlogger?
After graduating, Basel Manadil told his followers how he applied for a job. But he unfortunately did not land any job he applied for so he decided to visit different places in the country and eventually learned about the culture and food.
But what charms the netizens to his featured vlogs are the videos of giving out food to the needy and homeless, pranks with a cause and surprising deprived elderly people with the help they need.
Among my favorite Hungry Syrian Vlogs are “Surprising A One Legged Grab Food Bicycle Driver His Dream E-Bike”,
“I Didn’t Order Anything But Filipino Riders Raided My House!”, “He Saved Me So I’m Surprising Him!” , “Ordering From My Own Restaurant Prank On Female Rider”
These vlogs speak volumes of emotions and hopefully by constantly watching, people will be inspired to help and give more even in this difficult time.
SOARING HIGH
Despite the hardships and some issues he got into lately involving a Korean man and a newbie vlogger (see related story on YT), Basel has moved on and ready to go to greater heights as he just opened another business venture in Cavite aside from his booming Yolo Restaurant in Las Pinas City. This proves how he loves the Philippines dearly and as he always says, he is really a Filipino by heart.
