I SAID GOODBYE TO LOVE

Spread the love

VALENTINE FEVER IS ON! IT’S OK…I CAN MANAGE BEING ALONE BECAUSE…

I said goodbye to love. Sounds like a song but it isn’t.  It’s a choice I made not so long ago because I realized that I had to take care of myself first and give more time to myself and my loved ones before I can be in a relationship again.

But if you are in your teens and 20’s and want to explore and enjoy what love is all about  and the joy it can bring into your life, go ahead! Experience the best of love but never forget the lessons it can give you.

GIVE YOUR HEART A REST

Oh, don’t get me wrong, I’m not being cynical when it  comes to love. I’m sure some women my age also feel (that) at some point, there is a need to give your heart a rest. Like most of you, I’ve fallen in love a couple of times, been through heartbreaks, rejections and failed relationships but I still went on loving.

I still loved and gave even it was already hurting me.

I still continued to love even if it was no longer worth it.

Until one day, I decided to give my heart a rest.

I decided to just stop entertaining the thought that one day I’ll fall in love again. And what made me decide to give my heart a rest after all the love that I have given?

It’s because I realized what I am truly worth. That I deserve better, if not the best.

KNOW  THAT YOU DESERVE BETTER

Yes, we all deserve better. And when your “aha moment” comes,  then take steps to get that much needed rest.

If you ask me, here’s  mine.

  • ENJOY ME TIME–

After giving all your energy, time and effort to that person who just chose to leave you in the end, wouldn’t it be nice to devote some time for yourself? Now that we are still in this pandemic, choose activities that you can enjoy doing alone even at home. Like feeding your pet, exploring your inner plantito/plantita, take on a new hobby, learn a new recipe, bake homemade goodies  that you can also sell and so on.

  • RECONNECT WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS–

You were once in love and that guy/girl was the sun and the moon of your life. Then poof! In a minute it’s gone. But always remember that the best way to triumph over a heartbreak is having a great set of support group. What are you waiting for? Get in touch now with a family member or a friend and renew ties with them.

  • DISCOVER SELF LOVE–

The fact that you ended a relationship that’s causing you so much burden is already a starting point in knowing what you deserve. Re-discover self love. Pamper yourself, treat yourself and respect yourself enough to know that you don’t deserve any less.

  • PAUSE AND SMILE-

After all that you went through in love- pause and smile. Tell yourself you gave it your best shot! Who knows, someone in the future will again make a way to your heart. By that time, hopefully you will be ready to give it a try.

And if you ask me, shall I ever fall in love again?

Only time will tell. Hopefully when it comes, both time and fate are already my friends.
